Workshops and Events
I am a Reaserch Scientist at the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS), based in the Department of Meteorology at the University of Reading. As a new member of both UKPN and the committee I am looking forward to getting involved with planning and participating in UKPN activities Current Research My research interests focus on polar climate variability, predictability and the mass balance of both land and sea ice. I am presently working on the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funded Arctic Predictability On Seasonal to Inter-annual time scales (APPOSITE) project. The motivation of this research is to assess the potential for seasonal forecasting in the Arctic. Background I completed my PhD in Geographical Sciences at the University of Bristol in 2011. During this I conducted research to investigate the impact of sea ice decline on the mass balance of the Greenland ice sheet and Savalbard's glaciers and ice caps. After this I spent time doing postdoctoral research on sea ice variability at the Japanese Agency for Marine-Earth science and technology (JAMSTEC), in Yokohama, Japan. |
